Family planning programs are often faced with the challenge of transferring knowledge into behavior. A growing body of evidence suggests that social and behavior change (SBC) interventions improve family planning/reproductive health outcomes by directly increasing contraceptive uptake or increasing contraceptive use through pathways that address intermediate determinants such as attitudes around family planning.

Over the last four years, Breakthrough ACTION has completed a wide array of activities utilizing social and behavior change (SBC) approaches to improve family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) outcomes, including both global and regional advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity strengthening, as well as country-level implementation of SBC campaigns and solutions.

Knowledge SUCCESS is pleased to announce the second edition in a series that documents what works in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH). The series uses innovative design to present, in-depth, essential elements of impactful programs.

Breakthrough ACTION + RESEARCH has launched a new resource collection and accompanying catalog. They showcase more than one hundred social and behavior change (SBC) for family planning (FP) resources for planners, designers, implementers, donors, and other users to inform innovative, evidence-based, and impactful interventions.

The Inside the FP Story podcast explores the fundamentals of designing and implementing family planning programming. Season 3 is brought to you by Knowledge SUCCESS, Breakthrough ACTION, and the USAID Interagency Gender Working Group. It will explore how to approach gender integration in family planning programs—including reproductive empowerment, gender-based violence prevention and response, and male engagement.

Connecting the Dots Between Evidence and Experience combines the latest evidence with implementation experiences to help technical advisors and program managers understand emerging trends in family planning and inform adaptations to their own programs. The inaugural edition focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on family planning in Africa and Asia.

On September 29, 2021, Breakthrough ACTION hosted a discussion on meeting youth family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) needs. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in three discussions that highlighted Breakthrough ACTION’s resources and knowledge on expanding youth access to FP/RH services and information.
