Examining the Impact of Knowledge Management Interventions: The Knowledge for Health East Africa Field Project

This February 2017 research brief documents a test of the effects of knowledge management interventions at the field level. The Knowledge for Health Project conducted a baseline and endline study focused on the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC). The inquiry determined that knowledge management interventions positively improved effectiveness and efficiency of knowledge sharing and use of knowledge management techniques among ECSA-HC staff members.

Bangladesh Knowledge Management Initiative: Effects of a Digital Health Training Package on Client Family Planning Behaviors

Use of Interactive Voice Response for Professional Development in Kenya

This report describes an interactive voice response (IVR) eLearning activity implemented by the Knowledge for Health (K4Health) project. Family planning content from the Global Health eLearning Center (GHeL) was delivered via mobile phone to 233 students and health care providers in Kenya. In order to pass the course, known as the Family Planning Mobile Training Course, participants took a quiz managed via the IVR platform during which they were prompted by SMS text message to initiate their daily training calls.

WhatsApp as a Platform for Continuing Professional Development

In August 2016, the Knowledge for Health Project tested the WhatsApp Messenger platform as a mode to deliver family planning continued professional development training content to Kenyan health workers and promote knowledge exchange and discussion. 

End of Project Report: K4Health East Africa Field Support

The Knowledge for Health Project provided knowledge management capacity strengthening services to a variety of organizations in East Africa, 2014-2019. This report covers work with the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), East African Community (EAC) Secretariat Health Department, East Africa Health Research Commission (EAHRC), Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC), and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
