This phrase sums up a new approach that shows the importance of building reproductive health programs that take into account the concerns of adolescents and young people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, PATH and YUX Academy, as part of HCDExchange project, launched the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HCD+ASRH Network of Ambassadors to raise awareness and strengthen the capabilities of practitioners, develop a community, exchange knowledge, and share skills and expertise. The network is a mix of designers, international organizations and young leaders working in the interest of young people\u2019s sexual and reproductive health (SRH). They include ambassadors from C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. They are working to transform the ASRH and HCD linkages in francophone Africa and create solutions that are co-designed by youth themselves as described in this webinar, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E0dkqj8jIQs\"><b>The Value Add Using Human Centered Design for Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(only available in French).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\" ><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 40px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h1><b>What Is Human-Centered Design (HCD)?<\/b><\/h1>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 40px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<ul>\n<li><b>Human-Centered Design<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a problem-solving process.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It places r<\/span><b>eal users at the center<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the development process.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Enables the <\/span><b>creation of products and services that respond to users&#8217; needs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, environment, and cultural context.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> HCD cuts across diverse industries and thrives on the inclusion of <\/span><b>multidisciplinary teams <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">working together to solve <\/span><b>complex problems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div  class=\"wpb_single_image wpb_content_element vc_align_left wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t\n\t\t<figure class=\"wpb_wrapper vc_figure\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"vc_single_image-wrapper   vc_box_border_grey\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/figure>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HCD+ASRH Network of Ambassadors is focused on building solutions with young people for young people in francophone West Africa to meet their AYSRH needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h1><b>What Makes This Approach Different From The Approaches That Have Been Used Before? <\/b><\/h1>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HCD is multistep, iterative process involving initial exploration and articulation of user needs, development of prototypes, and revision of designs in response to input from the community. The end user is engaged in all steps of creating a solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The traditional process is linear. You have an idea, define it, and create the product or intervention and get feedback from the end user at the end after investing a lot of resources and time in developing it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div  class=\"wpb_single_image wpb_content_element vc_align_left wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t\n\t\t<figure class=\"wpb_wrapper vc_figure\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"vc_single_image-wrapper   vc_box_border_grey\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/figure>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h1><b>Why Is HCD Important In The ASRH Sector In Francophone Africa?<\/b><\/h1>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h1><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many young people face social and structural barriers when it comes to reproductive health because communication about sex is taboo. Young people are underserved, unrepresented and not consulted about their sexual and reproductive health needs.
